HATI & MAZZOLL

Teruah

151 | 2017

A unique musical meeting of the Toruń duo HATI, created by Rafał Iwański and Rafał Kołacki, who have been exploring percussion and experimental music for years, based mainly on ethnic instruments and the virtuoso of clarinet and improvised music Jerzy Mazzoll, one of the most important representatives of the Polish jazz avant-garde.

At the end of summer 2014, the musicians met in Toruń in an arranged studio, creating and recording for several days. The second recording session took place in May 2016 in the factory halls of the former "Elana" plant. The fruit of this collaboration is a few hours of recordings, of which the authors have edited over 40 minutes of music most interesting in terms of publishing. Artur Maćkowiak is responsible for the final shape, i.e. mixing tracks for the album. The author of the graphic design is Filip Appel.

The trio also appeared concertally, so far during three performances: in Warsaw during a series of concerts opening the activities of the local Universal Brain (2014), at the Parzybroda Festival (Aleksandrów Kujawski, 2015) and at the Transgresje Festival (Toruń, 2015).
