The group was founded at the end of 1996 as a project of Łukasz Pawlak. Originally, the music of Nemesis was a continuation of the industrial style presented by Pawlak's earlier band - The Report (1992–96). After releasing a few low-edition releases ("World is Factory I" - 1996; "Koncert Ostrów" - 1997; "Iz – Za 7" - 1998; "Iced Eyes" - 2000; compilations "Music Carries the Wind" 2000; remixes for Aural Planet - 2001; Black Faction - 2001), in 2001 the Vivo Records label offered the group to release their first official album. The album "Whispers From Behind The Window", enthusiastically received by the critics, recorded together with Maciej Staniecki, enjoyed considerable interest among the audience, gaining more and more success on the electronic music scene. After the album was released, the artists devoted themselves to their professional work and their own musical projects (Pawlak runs the Requiem Records publishing house, Staniecki takes part in many theater and film projects).
In 2006, the group started working on a new album. The band consisted of Konrad Kucz (a member of the now defunct FUTRO group (CD released by BMG - the album was nominated for the European MTV AWARDS and national FRYDERYK Awards), recordings with Gaba Kulka and for years associated with ambient and contemporary music) and Marcin Bociński ( photographer and producer cooperating with the artist Artur Żmijewski, co-owner of the Legato recording label). Vivo has once again become the publisher of the album "In Between". The premiere material was presented during the festivals in Cieszyn and Gorlice in July 2007. Since then, the group has played several concerts promoting its material (including: C3 - Club Contemporary Classical, CoCArt Music Festival, Moving Closer, Music and Film Festival of Nordic and Scandinavian Culture (as a support before BIOSPHERE), Wroclaw Industrial Festival and others, where the visualizations created by the multimedia group Suka Off and Malwina de Brade (painter, photographer) are presented.
The music from the latest album is a joint project of Nemesis with Paweł Mykietyn. It is a kind of collage of his acoustic compositions for orchestra and cello with industrial-ambient sounds typical of the NEMEZIS style. The idea to record an album with Paweł Mykietyn's music is the result of inspiration from a similar BIOSPHERE realization with the Norwegian contemporary music legend ARNE NORDHEIM. The concerts are accompanied by a film made with prof. Roman Woźniak and his theater ACADEMIA. The publisher of the album is Requiem Records.
This album is also added to the DELUXE version, the Nemezis vs Paweł Mykietyn album. This limited release was produced in 30 copies and includes a vinyl record and 2 CDRs - World is Factory I, II.
