Anna M. Huszcza
127 | OPUS 12 | 2016/2017
The first monographic album of the composer - Anna Maria Huszcza. An unusual mixture of electronic sounds, folk and saxophone music. On the album "wydziwiAnka" you can hear outstanding musicians from Poland, Slovenia and Spain. Among them are: Paweł Gusnar (saxophones), Zuzanna Elster (harp), Pablo Sánchez Escariche Gasch (alto saxophone), Andrzej Karałow (piano), LadieSaxophone Quartet and the SOS Saxophone Orchestra.
Combining opposites, in this case folk music and electronics, is the leitmotif of "wydziwiAnki". Transformed recordings of Weronika Partyka's white singing, the sound of devil's fiddle, pipes and drums, as well as Polish folk songs performed by Waleria Żarnoch, Adam Strug, Anna Mikulska and the band Echo Łysicy - these are just some elements of the electronic layer.
The saxophone dominates most of the compositions. It appears as a solo instrument with the accompaniment of electronics ("AbySsus", "Intercosmic"), but also in duets with harp and piano ("SaHarBAD", "the wall"), in a quartet with singing and electronics ("Sonosfera") and in a thirteen-person orchestra ("Nihanja").
