Das Moon
V 11 | 143 | 2017 | winyl + CD (in foil) SOLD OUT
Das Moon presents the long-awaited third album entitled "Dead" - 40 minutes of music, 10 tracks, in electro and synth-pop aesthetics, complemented by new wave harmony and the characteristic and moving vocal of the phenomenal Daisy K.
"Dead" explores dark and cold regions of electronics and colors them with hit synthpop. The sounds of analog and virtual synthesizers and powerful bass are dminating. Added to this are modified guitars, distinctive percussion sounds and disturbing samples with ambient sounds. The album is primarily a settlement with the past. "Dead" reaches to emotions that are usually deeply hidden, to the narcotic beginnings of love, to its end and goodbyes, to excitement, euphoria and fear, to madness and inner emptiness. "Dead" professes love and ironically comments on everyday situations. "Dead" is a new beginning.
In two songs, Tomasz Świtalski, a member of the legendary bands Kryzys and Brygada Kryzys, featured with saxophone. In this unusual way for electronics, Das Moon pays tribute to Polish alternative music and the ideals of freedom it represents.
The producer of the album "Dead" is again Paweł Gawlik (Paul Gavlic), the final sound and mastering are the work of the 2014 Grammy winner Jacek Gawłowski (JG Master Lab).
Das Moon is created by Daisy Kowalsky - a singer and songwriter (poet Kamila Janiak) and two musicians and producers: DJ Hiro Szyma (synthesizers, percussion, as well as cover art of albums) and Musiol (synthesizers, guitar, programming, concert visuals and music video production).
The band was founded in 2010. In 2011, the debut album "Electrocution" (published by Polskie Radio / Warner) was released, and in 2014 its successor - "Weekend in Paradise" (published by Requiem Records / Sonic). Das Moon promoted them with tours in Poland and abroad. The band has performed at the Mayday festivals in Katowice (special edition on the occasion of the 15th anniversary of the event, in Katowice's Spodek), Open'er in Gdynia, Castle Party in Bolków, Electronic Beats in Gdańsk and Wave Gotik Treffen (WGT) in Leipzig. The band shared scenes with artists such as James Blake, Jazzanova, Squarepusher, De / Vision, Camouflage and Front Line Assembly.
Before the creation of Das Moon, from 2002 to 2010, Musiol and DJ Hiro Szyma ran the music and art collective Rh + [Audiowizualna Grupa Przyjaciół], which released 3 albums, and presented multimedia concerts in clubs, concert halls and music and theater festivals in Poland, Germany, Austria and Italy.
The first inspirations for Das Moon's musical creations were the electronic, industrial, synthesizer and guitar sounds of bands such as Kraftwerk, Pink Floyd, Einstürzende Neubauten, Depeche Mode, The Prodigy and Sonic Youth. Based on these experiences, the original, contemporary sound of the band was created, which Das Moon now presents on the album "Dead".
The artistic activity of Das Moon is supported by the Warsaw Art and Progress Foundation.
