Korean tradition combined with modern use of Western instruments in the Sanjo series by the winner of international composition competitions - Eunho Chang.
Sanjo is a form of traditional Korean music characterized by the use of only one melodic instrument which may be accompanied by a percussion instrument. In such an intimate contact with a solo instrument, the melody and rhythm are to crystallize. In the series of pieces for solo instruments "Sanjo", Eunho Chang presents his own view of traditional Korean music using contemporary compositional means and Western instruments that are to imitate Korean instruments through the use of appropriate performance techniques.
The first five pieces of the Sanjo series by the Korean composer living in Warsaw, Eunho Chang, were recorded by musicians specializing in new music: Sunyoon Won - a violinist, Mikołaj Pałosz - a cellist known for numerous premieres of Polish new music, a member of the Cellonet ensemble, Rafał Żółkoś - flautist, laureate of international competitions for the interpretation of new music, currently a student of music universities in Berlin and Paris, Angèle Chemin - a French interpreter of new vocal music, and by Dariusz Przybylski - a composer and organist.
