The album was produced by NORT, a member of the legendary Sheffield funk / electro / industrial group – HULA, who also played the drums at Cabaret Voltaire's (The Pressure Company).
Hollow Trees is the debut album of the audiovisual artist Szopa. Written and produced in the years 2014-2020, it focuses on combining electronic elements with organic sound samples of the nature around us. Inspired by contemporary experimental music, it combines bold and unusual sounds with a rhythmic arrangement.
Hollow Trees is about the process of growing up and finding your place in the world - accepting rejection, anger and frustration and, above all, hope. The album alludes to the same kind of processes taking place in nature, taking the listener on a journey to a metaphorical forest, isolated from the material world. The purpose of Hollow Trees is to ask questions - to try to find the reason why the eponymous "hollow trees" sprouted from the ground, and how this kind of visual image relates to the search for hope and the will to fight within ourselves.
