The first solo album of the artist known for his numerous music and multimedia projects (Spear, Ben Zeen, Nonstate). The album contains compositions created and recorded in 2014, but it is the result of many years of experiments in obtaining and processing unconventional sound sources. The basic sound material in this case is the activity of wireless networks (GSM, Bluetooth and WiFi). High frequency radio waves (from 800Hz to 2.7GHz) are scanned and subjected to transposition, amplification and sonication using a specially designed for this purpose device Analog Radio Frequency Power Detector, designed and made in cooperation with Adam Łutkowski. Sounds and data streams obtained in this way are subject to numerous transformations and preparations using digital technologies. At the same time, they relate to the sounds generated by the human body (breathing, heartbeat, blood flow, work of muscles and joints). In this way, an indeterminate, open, dynamic structure is created based on the feedback between the physiological activity of the body and the surrounding information space of data flows.
The basic sound material was created as a result of recording three different situations in which specific forms of such interactions were revealed in different ways. Each of the three compositions is built on the basis of gaining "access" to the "form" of hybrid space, characteristic for a given situation - hence their titles. These compositions, however, are not a direct record of the interaction between the body and the activity of the network. The sounds obtained in this way and the evolving sound structures are subjected to numerous modifications and supplemented by the more "conventional" sounds of electronic devices and analogue and digital instruments. In this way a tension is created between the indeterminate self-arising sound structure and the composer's control over the sound material.
"Electric Disobedience of Flesh" is a clash of subtle silence and brutal noise, chance and control, "existing" sound situations and ordered compositional structures. It is the disclosure and experimental exploration of a complex system of relationships, often imperceptible and unconscious, between biology and technology, body moisture and the flow of digital data, between biological and physical activity, "matter" and the energy of cyberspace.
