Lament świętokrzyski

62 | 2013

Jacek Podsiadło's lyrical monologue (regarded as one of the most interesting contemporary Polish poets) is combined with the eclectic music of the Socha / Bester duo, creating a kind of radio drama.

The autobiographical "Lament Świętokrzyski" is a dialogue between words and music, a constant play of contexts, in which Podsiadło's texts have been supplemented in a peculiar way with a sound layer. The spoken word, placed in front of avant-garde, concrete and chamber music, becomes a sound effect. The style in which Podsiadło conducts his monologue is the result of many inspirations - you can feel the influence of the poetry of Gałczyński, Miłosz and Barańczak. There are many references to American poetry of the 1960s (Przeminęli hipisi - “Gone hippies”) and British pop-poetry. In music, the influences of ambient, electronic, klezmer and musique concrète mix. It is full of reverbs, noises, sound feedback, jazz drumming.

The name of the band was created during the cooperation of Jacek Podsiadło with Dziady Żoliborskie - a Warsaw formation oscillating around experimental, electronic and acoustic music. Currently Najduchy is a trio: Jacek Podsiadło (poems, recitation), Ireneusz Socha (drums, computer instruments) - founder of the Dembitzer Music record label, leader of the band Kirkut-Koncept and Jarosław Bester (accordion) - founder of The Cracow Klezmer Band, currently performing under the name Bester Quartet.

Podsiadło's cooperation with Socha began in 1998 with the recording of the album "Mikrosłuchowiska". In 2003, the Dembitzer Music label released the band's second album entitled "Order: Chaos". In 2011, as part of the 2nd Miłosz Festival, the group presented its latest project entitled "Lament Świętokrzyski".
