A recording of the synergy effect.
#NetworkMusic is a summary of the first three years of activity of the music cooperative Hashtag Ensemble, founded in 2013 by flutist Ania Karpowicz. The group consists of 20 young chamber musicians specializing in the performance of 20th and 21st century music. It is also the first band album recorded in wide compositions combining the sound of classic acoustic and electronic instruments (including EWI, Hammond, electric guitar). Songs for Hashtag Ensemble were written by young Polish composers: Wojciech Błażejczyk, Dariusz Przybylski, Ignacy Zalewski, Adam Porębski and Mikołaj Majkusiak, taking up the topic of musical networking.
The #NetworkMusic program was built on orders from composers taking on the subject of the artist-composer cooperation model and team collaboration. Dedications for the Hashtag Ensemble show the group's virtuoso potential (the exceptionally technically demanding song "Crossover Concerto" by Mikołaj Majkusiak is performed by 13 soloists without a conductor), they associate chamber musicians in various and unstable subgroups ("Chamber Concerto" by Dariusz Przybylski with the terms of a string quartet), and also use the possibility of combining electronic and acoustic sounds in broad plans ("DysKulacje" by Adam Porębski exploring not only communication in the band, but programmatically referring to the specifics of contemporary Polish public debate). The title track #NetworkMusic by Wojciech Błażejczyk reflects not only the mechanisms governing the band, but also the mechanisms of the all-encompassing internet network today.
