PATHMAN - we do not hide that both the meaning and the sound are almost like ATMAN [self], because this is what we really meant: to stay on the path we took in 1976. On the path; not on a highway or a dirt road, but on a path. And it's your own, because only about your own path can you say that it is revealing, that it leads into the unknown, that it is a unique experience. That we are not one of the many traversing it, that it is not the beaten track, that at every turn something new, unknown, amazing can meet us, something that will surprise us and even trample us.
This path is 40 years old. It's probably a lot. That's enough to be able to say: if it is taking so long, then there must be something to it. We feel confident enough on our path to use a handful of stones, a few sticks, a piece of sheet metal or an instrument held in our hands for the first time in our hands. It does not mean that we do not use electronics. Without it, recordings would not have been made, it would not have been possible for a larger number of listeners to hear the nuances of many sounds that fascinate us so much.
Sometimes the paths cross, sometimes they are shared by several hikers for some time. Ours has repeatedly crossed with similar seekers of sounds, rhymes and rhythms, images, ... And although they often went in the opposite direction, it was always a cordial meeting that gave a lot of energy.
As it happens with paths, they often overgrow, disappear in a living and cyclically reborn nature. If something remains after them, it is a record in our memory and possibly some notation of this memory. There are a lot of such records from hiking along our path. Cassettes, vinyl records, CDs, photos, films, articles and books - these are proof of not only musical experiences, searches and investigations. Also those that are hidden in the recesses of memory of thousands of listeners of our concerts.
We are a generation that does not treat music only as an element of entertainment or as a jammer of ambient sounds. Music is an important message of our understanding of the world, our approach to nature, man and "civilization". Although we treat music very professionally, we engage in many activities on a daily basis, seemingly having little to do with music. A forester, computer scientist, councilor, educator, editor - sounds are everywhere, they accompany every action. Some are meaningless, others are pure meaning, some are only the background, others are strictly defined information - we often do not know which of these sounds our sensitivity will transform into music, i.e. into those sounds which someone will be able to spend some time listening to and to spend money on a ticket or a record. And for such a modification we use a large collection of instruments, objects and tools, the vast majority of which are acoustic sounds. But we do not shy away from releasing sounds locked in electricity. After all, the most natural thunder of a storm is an acoustic emanation of this energy.
