The fusion a string quartet with an accordion and an integration of trends such as folk, classical, contemporary and jazz music ...
The initiator of the project is the accordionist Rafał Grząka. The idea behind creating the album was to prove to a wider audience that contemporary music can be pleasant and understandable not only for music connoisseur. The fusion a string quartet with an accordion and an integration of trends such as folk, classical, contemporary and jazz music are the most important features of the presented album.
The album opens with a song by Mikołaj Majkusiak up2U. The composer is well versed in the sonic possibilities of the accordion, supplementing it with a string quartet. It couldn’t go without the virtuoso’s figurations so characteristic of this artist - irregular time signatures and suspenseful chords.
The second piece will be the composition by Piotr Wróbel, Suita 3–5–7. The author used stylizations of three-part dances, arranged in order from the sentimental kujawiak, the proud mazur that skillfully transforms into a mazurka, to a lively and very energetic oberek. There are connectors between the dances, bringing elements of contemporary music to the suita.
The next composition is Atom Accordion Quintet by Krzysztof Lenczowski. A very romantic piece, which in its nature refers to French and film music, strongly influences the imagination of the listener.
Finally, we present the composition of Nikola Kołodziejczyk Subliminal Folk Suite. The suspenseful narrative of this piece is largely based on the accordion, which is treated here as a solo instrument. On the basis of innovative jazz rhythm and harmony, the author presents themes referring to Polish folk music.
