Awake - dreaming, awake- dreaming, rhythm of ascent and collapse, rhythm of assembly of non-existent tapes ... echoes of Column One, Coil ...
The sleep machine with its Mandelbrot spiral wraps around the unreachable pole of your head. Awake - dreaming, awake- dreaming, the rhythm of ascent and collapse, the rhythm of the assembly of non-existent tapes. KakofoNIKT from lively improvisation precipitates the lunatic dance of consciousness: the trailing chorea of sound spaces is concentrated into one shape, it again stratifies, disintegrates and liquefies - and their musicians (Patryk Lichota, Hubert Wińczyk and Michał Joniec) treat their broad instrumentaries not necessarily as a collection of individual, specialized tools for extracting sounds, or rather as geographies, sound maps of universes, constantly explored. Sleep The machine entangles you in the intrigue of suspended states and apparent stories, through which it is easier to travel deeper into than through.
The album was created as part of the team's work on the Dream Machine project - multi-hour multimedia performances specifically designed for dreaming, which include an audiosphere, multi-channel video projections extended with optical experiments, space arrangements, performative elements, as well as tactile and aromatic stimuli. The beginning here is a departure from treating sleep as a moment of rest, and thus repealing the relaxing function of music. During these exhausting sessions, musicians often introduce themselves to parahipnotic and meditative states, with the help of various techniques, creating a semi-conscious theater for a semi-dreaming ear and trying to create a bridge to the subconscious mind.
