The SPEAR band, founded in 1992 by Maciej Ożóg and Joanna Niekraszewicz, has released four albums over 12 years of its existence. Its songs have been included in many compilations, they played several dozen concerts in Poland and abroad. Apart from the originators of the project, the studio recordings were attended by, among others: Wojcek Czern, Hubert Babiarz, Bartłomiej Kuźniak, Janek Koza, Marta Pilarska, Mariusz Stępień.
From the beginning of its existence, SPEAR was associated with the OBUH Records label, which in 1994 published the band's first material entitled Spear and the next two albums In Search of Sparks (1996) and Dark Waters of Light (1997). Since 1998, the band released the albums Of Silence and Saphire Flower through their own label IGNIS.
The Saphire Flower album was the culmination of the band's activities and a turning point in their interests and attitude towards music, art and the world. It was a signal of exhaustion of a certain aesthetic formula and of the worldview professed so far. Nothing stands still. Change and evolution. Difference and Repetition. SPEAR was closed as an existential project in 2004.
After the group disbanded, Maciej Ożóg founded the duo Ben Zeen with Paweł Cieślak and the electro duo Aural Treat with Marta Heberle. Currently, he implements solo sound projects, audiovisual performances, happenings and installations. His first solo album Electric Disobedience of Flesh will be released in 2014. Since 2011, together with Bartłomiej Kuźniak, he creates the Nonstate group, he is a member of the ephemeral Sup Spa and Quantum Vaccum Osscillator projects related to the http://333flow.com collective.
