Tatvamasi
103 | 2015
An incredible instrumental group creating a mixture of intricate, electric jazz and Eastern European rhythms, based on a penetrating solo of saxophone, trumpet, sharp electric guitar and a free, pulsating and well-structured tandem of the rhythm section: drums and bass. Their debut album, Parts of The Entirety, released internationally in 2013 under the Cuneiform Records banner, opened up new territories, attracting a passion for jazz narrative and a strong folk flair.
Awakened, nurtured in silence and solitude, Tatvamasi's music reveals the hidden depths of the Polish soul of the 21st century. Inspired by both traditional Slavic folk music and the avant-garde music scene (similar to the blurring lines between genres from the downtown New York music scene like Curlew), marked by jazz, progressive and avant-garde rock and Delta blues. Tatvamasi is an extraordinary instrumental group creating a mixture of intricate, electric jazz and Eastern European rhythms, based on a penetrating solo of saxophone, trumpet, sharp electric guitar and a free, pulsating and well-structured tandem of the rhythm section: drums and bass. Their debut album, Parts of The Entirety, released internationally in 2013 under the Cuneiform Records banner, opened up new territories, attracting a passion for jazz narrative and a strong folk flair. "I create my compositions as an invitation to make music, improvise, create an inner world, the world of imagination," says guitarist Grzegorz Lesiak, founder and soul of the band. “Music awakens thoughts, we see images. The spirit is at work and a purple haze envelops the mysterious purpose of a journey into yourself. "
The journey of a restless Indian through the hazy world of the past. Wandering and finding. Temple ruins, falls, ups, the eternal struggle with the demons of the ancestors, vision. Love is God. Dynamic Disciplines in Chaos. Freedom in captivity. Contradictions, twisted melodies, a passion for improvisation, the joy of experimenting, playing with the sound of unspoken words. Trinkets scattered and collected. "We have sometimes pushed into the void to scare the watchmakers."
