The Vein

The Fragile Surfaces

18 | dvd case | 2004

Doubled breakbeat, echoes of electro and detroit techno served in a trance mix with ambient spatiality.

The most entertaining track in the oeuvre of Mark Marchoff, a veteran of the Polish post-industrial underground (i.e. Different State). Marchoff lives in New York today and there, together with another Polish emigrant, Daniel Kozikowski, he created the duo The Vein. They are based on long-proven patents, but the deep, vivid sound makes a good impression. Doubled breakbeat, echoes of electro and detroit techno served in a trance-like mixture carried with strong bass and pampered with ambient spatiality. Electronic exploration of the 90s takes the form of a pleasant, not so much trivial, but rather casual sound wallpaper. A solid job, although it does not arouse great emotions. Hopefully the artists will use the opportunities presented here on a more advanced platform.
