Wędrowiec
187 | 2019/2020
Wędrowiec tries to find a way to make contemporary sensibility feel at home in the ancient ritual music of the villages of Central Poland (especially Mazovia and Lubelskie region) wchich was preserved in transcriptions by Oskar Kolberg or archival recordings. This music no longer exists in its natural context, so we try to approach it with help of imagination shaped by contemporary music (minimal music), theatre experiences and directly from peasant musicians and singers from whom we learn raw technics and manners of performing folk music (white voice singing and instrumental technics). We refer to the old rituals not literally like stage folkloristic groups do but rather by the form, which is a kind of sound performance.
