Kopyta Zła

109 | 2016

An album on the border between a musical and a radio play in the form of a pastiche - in the textual and musical layer.

The main idea of "Kopyta konia" was an attempt to prepare an album on the border of a musical and a radio drama in the form of a pastiche - both in terms of text and music. The experimental and stylistically diverse music emphasizes the playful, not entirely serious nature of the release. Paweł Cieślak, mixing musical genres, created a collage of diverse and absorbing melodies - pop intertwines with techno, the electronic sounds of a midi synthesizer harmonize with the out-of-tune piano sound. In the case of the content of "Kopyta Zła" (“Evil Hooves”), the text layer plays an important role. Joanna Szumacher, creating a radio play and presenting the story of Ferdinand and his horse, based the content on Edgar Allan Poe's short story "Metzengerstein". The narrative style, uniform, calm, keeping a distance from the events in the story, also gives the horse a voice to present his feelings, emotions and his own point of view.
