Hashtag Ensemble

Visegrad Songs

96 | OPUS 6 | 2015

The first improvisational album by Hashtag Ensemble.

The musicians of the Hashtag Ensemble, who are proficient in all genres of classical music and actively involved in promoting Polish composers, reached for the songs and dances of Bela Bartok, Jan Levoslav Bella, Mieczysław Karłowicz and Antonin Dworzak. The composition of the two collectives, encouraging to experiment with colors, resulted in various inspirations, from American minimalism, through sound experiments straight from the 1950s and 1960s, to references to lighter music.

“If you like secret darkness, sudden flashes, streaks, circulation of colors and fancifulness, you have it all on this album. But there is also a distance, a culture of stories and of the means used - a kind of classic. There is a longing, but no blame. With this album you will forget for a moment about artistic sharpness, the fight of contrasts, drama and radicalism. Don't worry, the authors of the album know that and know how to do it. But they stop for a moment. And there is courage in that. "
(Jerzy Kornowicz)
